The journey so far

This is a picture of us, Jan 22. Howick Yacht Club.

All nerves and excitement at the anticipation of delivering our first live workplace wellbeing workshop.

This isn't where our story began though. We met in 2015 when Kirsten hired Laura for a pain psychologist role at a rehabilitation company in Auckland.

Lets just say, that with our shared passion for neuroscience, integrated healthcare and achieving great outcomes for our clients, we were two peas in a work geek pod!

But we did this work on the background of limiting contractual requirements, challenging healthcare circumstances in NZ and significant client complexity. With a shared passion for seeing people thrive in their wellbeing, we struggled to reconcile the 'ambulance at the bottom of the cliff' model of working year in year out.

We shared a belief that the same skills people use to get up from the bottom of the cliff, differ in degree not kind, to those that maintain great wellbeing. We also noticed through our clinical work that the skills and strategies required to live a full and healthy life are simple, but the modern world has made them seem complex. Exercise, sleep, nutrition, social connection, purpose... all contribute to better wellbeing. Yet integrating them into life can be a struggle!

So our journey began to see how we could help put a fence at the top of the cliff. Where and how could we contribute to a healthier population for whom wellbeing was the platform on which their purpose was realised?

Late 2019 we came together to brain storm how we could bring some of our ideas to life. Starting with what we knew, our first incarnation of taking this out into the world was 'Calm for Mums'. We knew first hand the trials of balancing the demands of being working mums ourselves. As Covid-19 turned the world on it's head in 2020, our mission seemed even more important. And so we juggled in person and online group programmes for mums as we navigated in and out of lockdowns.

Word of mouth about our programmes spread. Early 2021 we were approached by a general manager from travel company The Walshe Group. The brief was simple: help us be ready to cope when the world starts flying again! And so by late 2022 we had armed 20 travel consultants with a tool box full of resilience to face the reuptake of world travel.

We could see our path forward beginning to form.

Where was the need?

Where could we have an impact?

Fast forward to today and we are happily on our journey to support people in leadership to find growth through evidence-based wellbeing. Through our nearly 40 years combined experience as clinicians in psychology, physiotherapy and health coaching, we help leaders develop sustainable wellbeing strategies. The programs we deliver today allow leaders to flourish in life and work and inspire growth in their teams.

We’re super excited about this next part of the journey!
